Starlink, operated by SpaceX, is a satellite internet service designed around a large constellation in low Earth orbit.
Why low orbit matters
Geostationary internet satellites sit 36,000 km above Earth. Starlink's satellites orbit at about 550 km, so a round-trip signal takes tens of milliseconds instead of half a second.
Launch cadence
Each Falcon 9 mission carries dozens of satellites at once. That cadence is what makes global coverage economically feasible.
